Purpose

This article helps resolve common issues with RFID / NFC access in Emiko.

Use this guide if:

  • a card gives a sound but access is denied

  • a new card does not work

  • a card worked before but no longer works

Important: Changes in Emiko can take up to 20 minutes to take effect and require the device to be online.

1. Card Gives Sound (BIB) but Access Is Denied

What the sound means

When the RFID reader gives a BIB sound, it means:

  • the card was read correctly

  • communication between the reader and the GSM controller is working

  • the GSM controller received the card ID

This confirms that the reader and communication are working correctly.

Possible causes

  • The card ID is not valid in the access list

  • The access period has expired

  • RFID access is disabled for the customer

What to check

  • Is the card ID stored correctly in Emiko (HEX format)?

  • Is the card still within its valid From / To period?

  • Is RFID access enabled for the customer?

  • Is the RFID key present in Emiko in one of these ways?

    • The key is assigned to the customer via Emiko RFID Management, or

    • The key was created and saved by the customer in the Emiko App

If the key does not exist in Emiko in either form, access will be denied.

2. New Card Does Not Work

RFID keys can be added in two different ways.

Option A – Saved by the customer in the Emiko App

  • The customer saves the RFID key in the Emiko App

  • The key is linked directly to the customer profile

  • Access is granted according to the customer’s settings

Option B – Managed in Emiko RFID Management

When using RFID Management, both steps are required:

  1. The RFID key is created and saved in the key list

  2. The key is assigned to a customer

If the key exists but is not assigned to a customer, it will not work.

What to check

  • Was the key added using the correct method?

  • If using RFID Management:

    • Is the key created?

    • Is the key assigned to a customer?

  • Is access assigned to the correct services?

3. Card Worked Before but No Longer Works

Possible causes

  • The validity period (From / To) has expired

  • RFID access has been disabled for the customer

  • The RFID key is no longer assigned to the customer

What to check

  • Check the From / To dates

  • Verify that RFID access is still enabled

  • Confirm that the key is still assigned to the customer

Action

  • Extend the validity period if access should continue

  • Re-enable RFID access if it was deselected

  • Reassign the key if needed

4. Changes Do Not Take Effect Immediately

Changes in Emiko are not applied instantly.

Important notice

  • It can take up to 20 minutes for changes to take effect

  • This applies to:

    • adding customers

    • adding or assigning RFID keys

    • changing access rights

    • updating validity periods

Required condition

  • The GSM device must be online

  • Only online devices can receive updated access files

If the device is offline, changes will be applied when it comes online again.

Key Takeaway

  • A beep sound confirms the card is read correctly

  • Most access issues are caused by:

    • missing key assignment

    • expired validity periods

    • RFID access being disabled

    • waiting time for updates to be distributed

  • Always allow up to 20 minutes and ensure the device is online
